I have a wife (Jean) and 3 kids....and though they think I'm nuts I still enjoy spending time with them....camping, sports and movies. I also like pizza, barbecues, Dr. Suess, full gas tanks, Fogghorn Legghorn and cold beer. No snuggies. No clappers. No sea monkeys and no paintings of Elvis on velvet.
I received my B.F.A. from St. Xavier University. I continued studies at the American Academy of Art (Chicago) while working full time in a design studio for about a year. I then did a one year stretch at a greeting card company , and have been freelancing ever since.
I grew up on the south side of Chicago, but now commute each day from my south suburban Tinley Park home (where there are still a few standing barn silos, corn fields and roadside fruit stands), to my studio in downtown Chicago's historic Fine Arts Building. The commute gives me time to read, sleep or come up with goofy ideas. I share space with fellow illustrator/ designer Dan Cosgrove (www.cosgrovedesign.com ) where we break up each day with a few games of tabletop foosball....and let it be known I still lead by a few games in our never ending tournament.
Through the years I've worked on many ad campaigns, brochures, storyboards and P-O-P displays. I've also illustrated numerous coloring books, puzzle and game books, educational books and story books.
